The Jomsom Muktinath Trek is a travel adventure to high mountain region of western Nepal dominated by Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri Himalaya Range. The trekking course begins from the town of Jomsom ending at the Muktinath temple. The Jomsom is a town residing at the elevation of 2700 meters with the facility of Airport Terminal, major business center, lodging center for tourists and government district headquarter. Jomsom is the commercial and administrative center of Mustang District of Nepal and entry point to Muktinath temple. The Muktinath is a holy shrine for Hindus and Buddhists residing at the foot of Thorong La Pass at the elevation of 3710meters. The Muktinath temple is one of the ancient Hindu temples and eight most scared shrines of Vaishnava related to Tirupati and Badrinath. The temple of Muktinath has a golden statue of God Vishnu along a courtyard of 108 water sprouts made of bull faces which pours the holy Pushkarini water from it all the time.
The Jomsom Muktinath Trek is a challenging trekking adventure facing the semi desert region of Mustang and following the barren banks of Kali Gandaki River. The travelers have the option to take air-flight or vehicle ride to Jomsom district headquarter. The travelers land at Jomsom and start their trekking course towards Muktinath. The breathing natural beauty is experienced during trekking from Jomsom to Muktinath. The trekking trail follows the kali gandaki river domainated by Annapurna Himalayas on one side and Dhaulagiri Himalayas on other side. The trekking trail passes through lower mustang region ending at the village of kagbeni. The travelers after getting rest move towards Muktinath temple which is the end point of trekking trail.
You will be welcomed on your arrival by our representative at Tourist Buspark or Airport, Pokhara. You will be transferred to your hotel. Once you check into the hotel, find some free and relaxing time until we meet for the briefing at some point in the evening. You will be informed about the time for the briefing at your hotel.
We begin to drive to Tatopani via Nayapul and Beni, the district centre of Myagdi district. With the hillside views and forests we reach all the way to Tatopani. It is nice small town lie son riverbank where you can enjoy bathing naturel hot spring. Overnight at teahouse/lodge.
Be begin the trek after breakfast through the wide road for half an hour. Then we descend to the Kali Gandaki River, cross the bridge and head to the Narchyang village. Getting the breathtaking panoramas of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche and Annapurna peaks can be more charming from the village. Again, the trail descends a bit further and continue towards Gadpar and down to Kopchepani. Then we catch up the main trail and trek to Ghasa via Pairithapla. Overnight at teahouse/lodge.
As we climb, the flora has turned to classic 'cloud forest' with mosses and lichen, tree ferns and orchids hosted by the hardier trees. There are windows in the woods that look out onto the thrilling panorama - close up dramatic scenery of sacred Mt. Machhapuchhare, Mardi Himal and Annapurna chains.
Another picturesque day we have today. As we walk half an hour from Ghasa, we climb up steadily beyond Dhaiku and descend to the Lete Khola, which continually leads us to the Chhoyo. Wrapping the lush sceneries, we walk further to the Kunjo village, inhabited by the Thakali people, who are skilful for cooking delicious foods. Then we climb up a bit and walk through the easy trail through the pine woods to Titi. Overnight at teahouse/lodge.
Crossing the bridge after Tukuche, we hike through the plain trail to Chimar and Chhairo. Dhumbara is ahead as we walk steadily and attain there in no time. We can see the tiny Dhumbar Lake nearby and persist to Thini. It is where the trekkers who come from the Thilicho Pass joins the main trail of Jomsom Muktinath trekking. The Jomsom valley and Nilgiri range dazzle in its extreme fascination. Overnight at the teahouse/lodge.
It is a relief day for us and head to our overnight destination Kagbeni with a gentle pace. Reaching the Ekle Bhatti, we continue to trek along the Kali Gandaki River bank, which is renowned as a windy valley. The earlier we start to trek, the more we feel easy to deal with the continual wind. There is a Kagbeni, the place which departs the trekkers to the Upper Mustang and Muktinath. Kagbeni is very nice dry plato, where you can visit old monastery , old town and view part of Uppermustang.Overnight at teahouse/lodge.
The trail is similar to the Tibetan terrain and we feel as if we are walking on a desert. The landscape is unique and the green vegetations are seen in some of the places. Slightly, we walk to Puthak, then to Jhong. The eye catching panoramas of Thorong peak, Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri can be seen through the way. Gradually ascending, we reach to the world famous pilgrimage site of Muktinath beyond the Annapurna Himalayan chain. People from different parts of the world come to this place to get freed from the sins. Hindu and Buddhist people make their pilgrimage trip to this temple. Overnight at lodge.
It’s a pretty log foothill excursion from Muktinath to Jomsom. However, descending is easier to ascend. First, we climb to the Lubra Danda and walk down to the Lubra village, one of the picturesque Thakali villages in this area. The stunning views of the Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Tukuche and the vicinity snow capped peaks. The wide and flat trail from there continually leads us to the district headquarter of the Mustang region where all government office and shoping town.Along the windy route beside the Kali Gandaki River bed, Our walking trip concludes here at Jomsom.we have time to explore around. It is an early morning flight from Jomsom over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri sceneries. The morning weather is very much suitable for the flight. Then we transfer to the hotel. After a rest, we set out for the refreshing sightseeing and boating in the Fewa Lake and enjoying the tranquil views. Visiting International mountain museum, water fall and Gupteshower cave, In the evening, we set out for a walk around the lakeside area. Overnight at hotel.
